The works of art that line the Uffizi Gallery, the halls of the great Venetian palaces or Rome’s most important basilicas depict faces that are often ignored: those of African people and those of afro-descendant people from the Italian Renaissance.
Who were they? Where did they come from? And why did they go unnoticed for so long? Thanks to an international team of experts and through costume re-enactments and in-depth historical animations, this documentary uncovers the stories of these people in a continual dialogue between works of art and archival records.
